Trends in Digital Media: Digital Cinematography

Digital Cinematography is a trend that has taken over the film industry. Many directors are moving towards strictly digital mediums for filmmaking. The options for data storage and post-production workflow add an ease to the filmmaking process that was absent with the old days of splicing and taping shots together for film.
In 2009 Slumdog Millionaire became the first movie shot mostly in digital and wan an Academy Award for Best Cinematography. Avatar for example, was not only shot on digital, but shown through digital projection in the theaters, rather than by film reels.
Digital cinematography offers more consistency, portability, higher resolution, better storage and backup options, at a lower price than standard film cameras.
The industry has accepted digital cinematography, and there are several directors who only use digital.
The hardware that makes it possible, like the recently released RED camera, from the founder of Oakley gives the novice the tools professional filmmakers have for a 1/10th of the price.

Green Bay Free Agents

http://www.acmepackingcompany.com/2011/3/24/2069817/the-2011-green-bay-packers-free-agents

Interesting article about the Packer's free agents this season. While every team goes through acquisitions and losses every offseason, there are several players I think the Packers need to make a priority to sign.
Cullen Jenkins was 2nd on the team in sacks, while playing several games with a club protecting a broken hand. His positions coach is quotes as saying he could have doubled his sack total, meaning he would have had more than Defensive Payer of Year runner-up Clay Matthews III. John Kuhn, Daryn Colledge, Howard Green, and Mason Crosby also need to be resigned. They are all good character role players that only add to the team. Kuhn is a fan favorite and carried most of the running load until James Starks emerged in the playoffs.
James Jones will likely not be back, as he has made clear that he wants to be a #1 receiver and that isn't going to happen in Green Bay with Jennings and Driver anchoring the receiving corp.
